Stevie Bill “I Was A Platinum Blonde Tour” in San Francisco, CA

Stevie Bill gathered fans for a night at San Francisco’s Brick and Mortar Music Hall. The Dutch singer-songwriter has been touring since last month, bringing her “I Was a Platinum Blonde Tour” to Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. Her tour wrapped up this Saturday in Los Angeles at The Moroccan Lounge.

Opening the show was indie folk artist Meels, who is from the Bay Area, making this a hometown performance for her. Meels’ mesmerizing voice, accompanied by her band, created an inviting atmosphere that allowed the audience to immerse themselves in her sound fully. Songs like “The Ruling” and “Nostalgia” stood out, with flourishing melodies that felt like an atmospheric dream.

Stevie Bill kicked off her set with fan favorite, “Amsterdam.” She made full use of the stage, dancing and interacting with the crowd. At one point, I noticed a platinum blonde wig on display, which I found hilarious. She then greeted the audience and transitioned into a cover of Katy Perry’s “TGIF” and “Good luck to your new girl…” from her EP Messy.

During a pause in the show, Stevie reflected on her time on tour. “It’s been amazing, and I just want to thank you all for being here,” she said. The moment was heartfelt, as she shared her journey of moving from Amsterdam to New York nearly five years ago to pursue her music career. “I moved in with Jacob [her guitarist], and on day three of living together, we made our first song, ‘Messy.’” Fans cheered and applauded, their happy expressions showing how proud they were of her.

I first discovered Stevie Bill in 2023 when her song “Hahaha” gained popularity on TikTok. Earlier this year, I saw her open for Aidan Bassett and fell in love with other tracks like “Poison” and “Hurts to Hold On.” Stevie’s music captures the feelings of growing up, the bittersweet nature of heartbreak, and the euphoric moments of womanhood, often infused with nostalgia.

Later in the show, she asked the crowd if anyone had experienced heartbreak, turning it into a sweet, interactive moment with a fan. “You know, I always find that when I’m in the middle of a breakup, I’m like, ‘OMG, this is so hard!’ And then months later, I’m fine and thinking, ‘Let’s do that again.’” She then handed the fan a rose with a note attached to it. Moments like these make her shows special and memorable.

Stevie Bill closed the night with her hit song “Hahaha,” bringing Meels back on stage to sing along. The crowd cheered in excitement. I could tell that Stevie and Meels were having a great time based on the smile on their faces.
