Latin Mafia’s Long Awaited U.S. Tour Opening Night in San Francisco

Latin Mafia kicked off their “Te Odio Y Te Extraño Mucho” tour last Thursday at The Masonic in San Francisco, California. Following the release of their debut album ‘TODOS LOS DÍAS TODO EL DÍA,’ the trio of brothers - producer Mike de la Rosa and twins Milton and Emilio (vocals) - are bringing the tour across the U.S. and Mexico.

After their U.S. debut at Coachella 2024 and their appearance at Tyler The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, Latin Mafia’s first-ever tour in the states was something that many have been counting down the days to. You could feel the anticipation building up as the venue filled up and latecomers maneuvered their way into the packed pit, hoping to secure a good view of the show.

With no opening act, the trio jumped right into the show with “Siento que merezco más,” the opening track from their new album. The song’s soft melodic start followed by a gritty, infectious beat and introspective lyrics throughout created an unforgettable start to the show, setting the tone for the rest of the night. Combined with flashing lights, the audience was immediately absorbed into the show, wondering if their favorite songs made it onto the tour setlist.

They paused to talk to the audience, thanking them for showing up to their first show in the city. “Qué les parece si cantamos unas de antes // What do you think if we sing some old ones?,” asked Emilio, before moving onto their 2022 single “Continuo Atardecer.”

“Hay que brincarle juntos, y que tiemble San Francisco // Let’s jump together, let it shake San Francisco,” said Mike, introducing their hit single “Se fue la luz.” This was clearly a fan favorite, and everyone in the room was jumping along with the trio, continuously being hyped up with their infectious energy. They followed with “Julieta” and “Julietota,” two songs which blend together seamlessly as a continuation of each other. “Julietota”’s irresistible Reggaetón beat turned the venue into a dance floor.

The stage later went black before a video started playing on the screen - it was a mosh pit tutorial. This was a surprising shift after the previous more mellow tracks such as “Julieta” and “No digas nada,” but I couldn’t wait to see what was about to unfold. During the next track, “Qué vamos a hacer?,” the pit opened up before pulling people in right when the beat dropped. In the middle of the madness, one of the twins threw himself into the crowd for a crowd surfing attempt. They asked everyone to keep the same energy going for the next song, which was an easy feat for the relentless crowd.

Throughout the show, the trio had an undeniable connection with their fans. I lost count of how many times one of the brothers threw their shirts into the crowd, took fans’ phones on stage with them, made their way down to the barricade, or even into the pit.

The trio wrapped up the night with heartfelt ballads “Yo siempre contesto” and “tengo mucho ruido,” for a bittersweet end to the night. As the trio left the stage, the crowd attempted to ask for an encore, reluctantly making their way out of the venue when the house lights turned back on.

Latin Mafia promises to be one of the most exciting acts of the year, with an authentic debut album taking their music to new heights, and unforgettable live shows.
