MisterWives “Just For One Night” Tour in Philadelphia, PA

MisterWives, an indie pop band based in New York City, brought their tour “Just For One Night,” to Philadelphia, PA on November 1, 2024. They were joined by openers Moody Joody and Joan.

In July 2023, MisterWives released their newest album, Nosebleeds. They celebrated the one year anniversary of Nosebleeds with a re-release of the album, this time with features from other artists on each song. Nosebleeds: Encore features artists like PVRIS, Meet Me @ The Altar, Taylor Acorn, Charlotte Sands, and so many more.

On August 19, 2024, MisterWives released a statement to their fans that this would be their last tour for a while. They shared that this was not the end of MisterWives, but that they would be taking a break. They used this as an opportunity to reminisce with fans and hear their feedback about what songs to include in the setlist. At the show, lead singer, Mandy Lee, addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support throughout the last decade of their career and seemed very optimistic about the future of MisterWives.

The “Just For One Night” Tour was opened by trio, Moody Joody, and duo, Joan. Moody Joody is an indie alt band from Nashville, TN. They are releasing an EP on November 8, 2024 titled Dream Girl, which they played five songs from, including hit song “Velvet Connection.” Their performance was mellow while still bringing energy to the crowd; playing instruments, choreographing songs, and interacting with the audience hooked the crowd in. Moody Joody was followed by indie pop, Arkansas-based band, Joan. Joan’s newest single, “heartbodymindsoul,” was released on October 23, 2024, and was of course featured on their setlist. Their setlist also included some songs from their April 2023 album release, superglue, as well as EPs portra, and hi. Joan’s upbeat performance was the perfect segway from Moody Joody to Misterwives, and kept the audience ready for the rest of the night.

The setlist for this show was made up of 26 songs and had a huge variety of MisterWives’ discography. It featured 11 songs from their newest album, Nosebleeds, including “Out of Your Mind,” “Other Side,” and, of course, the title track, “Nosebleeds.” MisterWives played five songs from their 2020 album SUPERBLOOM, including title track “SUPERBLOOM,” “rock bottom,” and, “whywhywhy.” They also played three songs from each of the albums Connect the Dots and Our Own House . They played a cover of “Dancin On My Own,” by Robyn, which was a hit in Philly where this song is played as a celebration for the Philadelphia Phillies’ playoff runs. The show ended with an encore of songs, “Vagabond,” and “Our Own House.”

MisterWives’ “Just For One Night” Tour was a positive and energetic way to part ways with fans and begin their hiatus. Moody Joody, Joan, and MisterWives were an excellent lineup with a beautiful blend of music for everyone in attendance. Fans were filled with excitement, nostalgia, and all sorts of emotions throughout the night, and the feeling of love and appreciation was a mutual feeling between the fans and the band.
