Stephen Sanchez Takes Phoenix, Arizona Back to the 1950’s

Stephen Sanchez gave his Phoenix, Arizona fans a glance at the past last week with The Connie Co Show, which he is bringing across North America this fall. This fictional TV show is based around the story of the troubadour Sanchez - a fictional musician from 1958 whose story is created in Stephen’s latest album Angel Face. Stephen’s unique approach of blending nostalgic influences into his music with in-depth storytelling have allowed him to create an immersive experience at his shows. He’s not simply performing his songs, but creating a storyline which is brought to life on tour.

Alternative/Indie rock band The Brook and The Bluff opened up the show. Their set was full of smooth, groovy rock tunes, complementing Stephen’s style perfectly. The band’s impressive instrumental solos, fun dance moves, and powerful vocals kept the audience engaged throughout, preparing them to welcome the troubadour Sanchez on stage.

Connie Co, the host of the fictional TV show, took the stage to greet the audience and welcome the Troubadour Sanchez - his special guest for the night. Stephen emerged from a spinning platform on stage, revealing the set of the Connie Co Show which was later completed with a desk and couch chair for the host and his guest.

He started the show with “Evangeline”, a heartfelt song about the troubadour Sanchez’s love interest, Evangeline. This song is a beautiful description of his love and dedication for this person, with sweet lyrics like  “I’d give it all just to make you mine,” and “if you need a minute, honey I’ll give you all my time, all the time.” The lyrics along with Sanchez’s soothing and resonating voice, were enough to put everyone in a trance.

The show continued with “Only Girl”, a catchy and upbeat tune with a retro 60’s sound where the troubadour Sanchez is asking Evangeline to forever be his only girl. This was the perfect song for Sanchez to display his dance moves, making his way across the stage, winning the hearts of everyone he passed by.

The fans in the front row weren’t the only ones that got to see Stephen up-close. For his cover of “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”, he jumped down and made his way through the crowd. The spotlight followed him as he walked through a sea of fans, stopping to sing and dance with those brave enough to make eye contact with the heartthrob. He later covered “Oh, Pretty Woman”, staying on theme for the Connie Co Show which is taking place in the 1960’s. Mid-song, he leaned over to grab a rose from a lucky fan, effortlessly holding it as he entranced the audience even more with his dancing and charming stage presence.

He ended the show with his hit single “Until I Found You” and “Shake”, another song from his new album. “Shake” was the perfect high-energy end to the show, as many in the crowd joined him and danced along to this upbeat retro rock tune. Stephen is a captivating performer with a voice that captivates, whether belting or crooning softly. His skills and unique storytelling approach to crafting music and live performances all point to a bright future ahead for the young star.
