State Champs in Philadelphia, PA

State Champs, New York-based pop punk band, brought their headline tour to Philadelphia on December 6, 2024. Joined by beloved alt-bands Knuckle Puck, Meet Me @ The Altar, and Daisy Grenade, the night was filled with crowd surfing, moshing, and, of course, high energy and great music.

Daisy Grenade started off the show with a seven song setlist featuring their recent releases “How to Hide a Body,” and “Hypocrite,” as well as their cover of Pierce the Veil’s “King For a Day.” They brought a great energy to the stage and started off the night amplifying the crowd.

Meet Me @ The Altar followed their set with lots of dancing and crowd engagement. They bring a real girlboss energy to this music scene, especially when lead singer, Edith Victoria, requested an all-girls pit during “Hit Like a Girl.” The six songs they played included hits from their 2023 album, Past // Present // Future, including “Say It (To My Face),” and “Kool.”

Chicago-based pop punk band Knuckle Puck brought a sense of passion for their music that only got the crowd more excited for the show to continue. Their energy reinvents a love I have for music every time I see them. Knuckle Puck’s stage presence is captivating and really brings the crowd into the live music experience. Their 12-song set was matched with crowd surfing and moshing that was infectious from the crowd, the more people who joined, the more people who wanted to. Their set featured their recently released single, “On All Cylinders,” as well as some songs from their 2023 album, Losing What We Love. Their set really brought the energy of the crowd up to exactly where it needed to be for State Champs to take the stage.

State Champs kicked off the tour on the same night as their newest album release, STATE CHAMPS, on November 8. The setlist consisted of 20 songs, 7 of them being from the new album, allowing fans to experience the songs live right away. Some of my favorites from the album of the night included “Light Blue,” and “Clueless.” At one point, the pit was calling my name and I couldn’t help myself anymore. My friend pulled me into the pit and we moshed and crowd surfed for the first time in a while. This was one of the most high energy shows that I’d been to in a while and really brought me a sense of euphoria and a new sense of love for live music.
